Reader Leader
1 Thorpe Close, Ladbroke Grove

We are currently looking for Reader Leader Volunteers for our West London Project. All Reader Leaders attend our Read-to-Lead training, an in-depth training program in shared reading, as well as receive ongoing support to develop skills towards facilitating a long-term weekly reading group.
We are looking for volunteers to train to become Reader Leaders and to lead a weekly Shared Reading group in their community. Your group may take place in one of a wide range of settings, but all Shared Reading groups work to promote social inclusion, provide opportunities for meaningful connection between people, and nurture confidence and resilience in reading and in life.
Reader Leader activities: you will be supported to:
·Lead a weekly Shared Reading group in a kind and inclusive way (usually a group is 1.5 hours long)
·Choose and prepare great literature that will encourage your group members to explore together and make personal connections
·Talk to potential group members in the community, perhaps running taster sessions at the beginning, to build your group membership
·Keep a straightforward record of group attendance and carry out occasional evaluation when required

About The Reader - Kensington & Chelsea

The Reader is an award-winning charitable social enterprise working to connect people with great literature and each other. .
We inspire and support people to read great literature aloud together. This simple idea changes lives and builds communities.
Groups we work with include looked after children, people in recovery from substance mis-use, prisoners, individuals living with dementia, parents, teachers, people with mental and physical health conditions and many more.
Our ambition is that Shared Reading will become so widespread that everyone, whoever they are, wherever they are, can access one of our groups.
