Advice and Advocacy Volunteer (Somali Community)
1 Thorpe Close, Ladbroke Grove

We are looking for a self-motivated individual to join our Advice and Advocacy Service, which supports members of the Somali community to resolve day-to-day problems such as benefits, immigration, housing, education/training, unemployment, social isolation and debt management.
Fluency in the Somali language is a requirement for this post, as a large part of the role involves translating letters received by service users from English to Somali, discussing the situation with them and advising them what to do, and/or speaking to people such as landlords, creditors or officials on their behalf.
You would not be required to provide specialised advice, but to act as a first contact, dealing with straightforward issues yourself and signposting users to the Hodan Director or to other service providers as necessary.
