Youth Programme Volunteer
Tolerance International UK
The Opportunity
Help TOLERANCE INTERNATIONAL UK to run workshops as part of the 'Embracing Tolerance Youth Programme' in schools and youth clubs in London, a programme aimed at 11 - 18 year olds to promote equal opportunity and to tackle discrimination.
This role is perfect for people who are interested in making a difference in the lives of vulnerable young people, promoting respect, understanding and moderation and trying to tackle intolerance, extremisms and prejudice.
The ideal volunteer would be interested in pursuing a career working with young people and gaining additional experience in an informal learning environment, leading classroom discussion, facilitating drama workshops and developing young people's creative and reasoning skills.
So, under the leadership of the Coordinator team, you will use a variety of entertaining and dynamic interactive exercises to make the workshops stimulating and worthwhile.
A minimum commitment of two hours per week is required.
The Organisation
Tolerance International UK is a London-based but internationally active charity which aims to promote tolerance and moderation between people and to challenge racism and extremism. We implement projects with some of the poorest communities in South America and Africa as well as with vulnerable groups and communities in the UK.
We run workshops as part of the 'Embracing Tolerance Youth Programme' in schools and youth clubs in London. This programme is aimed at 11 - 18 year olds to promote equal opportunity and to tackle discrimination.
We want to encourage young people to investigate their attitudes, values and understanding about the complexity of identity, social inclusion, diversity and finally to explore the consequences of intolerance in modern society.
We think that moderating extremes and promoting respect for all kind of diversity are the way forward to challenge racism and discrimination.
