Outreach and Development Volunteer
Kensington and Chelsea Local Involvement Network
The Opportunity
A part-time volunteer is required to support the LINk Development Officer and LINk Team to facilitate and develop outreach and engagement activities with individuals and community groups across the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea
Volunteers will:
> Raise awareness on LINk through community group visits and promotion at community events.
>Assist in the distribution of leaflets and posters to locations in K&C.
>Support focus group and public meetings where appropriate
>Arrange and attend coffee mornings
>Record outreach activity outcomes and report to K&C LINk
Volunteers will also get involved in:
>Research and identify outreach opportunities for a wide range of groups.
>Cold call to arrange appointments for visits with the support of the LINk Development Officer.
Minimum time commitment is one day per week.
The Organisation
K&C LINk is an independent network for members of the local community who share a passion for improving health and social care services. LINks have been granted powers as outlined in the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act.
Its activities comprise community based activities including research, outreach and consultation on health and social care services. This includes working with older people, younger people, people with mental health needs, disabled people, 'hard to reach' groups, the community and voluntary sector and cancer patients and survivors.
K&C LINk is supported by staff from Hestia Housing and Support.
Skills / Qualifications
Volunteers must:-
>Possess good interpersonal skills
>Ability to speak to varied audiences and make presentations where necessary
>Able to work on own and in small team
>Willing to commit to at least one full day or two half days per week and reliable
>Commitment to community engagement and equality
