The Opportunity
Stonewall is inviting young people between the ages of 20-25 to get involved in an exciting opportunity as a Youth Leader. Youth Leaders are a crucial part of Stonewall's Youth Volunteering programme and helps support Youth Volunteers to carry out their campaigns against homophobic bullying.
Youth Leaders work as part of Stonewall's Youth Volunteering Programme to carry out campaigns against homophobic bullying. There is the opportunity for 10 new Youth Leaders whose role will be to support new and existing Youth Volunteers.
Key responsibilities include assisting at induction for training Youth Volunteers, contacting your Youth Volunteers at least once a fortnight via phone to offer support and guidance with their campaigns, regularly updating the Youth Volunteer Co-coordinator about the progress of your Youth Volunteers, and supporting volunteers in your region to complete the Stonewall Youth Awards and partake in accreditation and training opportunities.
Please be aware that we are looking for a volunteer commitment of around 6 months
The Organisation
Stonewall is the national lesbian, gay, and bisexual rights charity renowned for our campaigning and lobbying roles. We put the case for equality on the plitical agenda by winning support with all of the main political parties.
Stonewall also works with a whole range of agencies to address the needs of lesbians, gay men and bisexuals in the wider community.
In addition Stonewall promotes new research on issues such as hate crime, lesbian health and homphobic bullying schools.
Alongside this expansion, our highly professional staff team has grown and is sustained by a committed band of dedicated volunteers and thousands of individuals the length and breadth of the UK.
Skills / Qualifications
Some understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual issues and how they affect young people.
