The Opportunity
Contribute to the running of this vital organization that helps people with learning disabilities.
In particular EQUAL PEOPLE is looking for board members who have:
> Finance skills
>Experience in Human Resources.
In return you can expect to:
>Develop your own leadership and business skills
>Gain satisfaction from helping a project that continues to benefit the community.
The management board meets at least five times a year to discuss the development and strategic direction of EQUAL PEOPLE.
The Organisation
EQUAL PEOPLE is a Voluntary Organisation working for people with learning disabilities to improve lives, build communities and fight inequality. It campaigns for their rights and responsibilities, and improves their opportunities to lead more integrated lives within the community. Recognizing the importance of parents and carers, it fights on their behalf for better resources and support.
Specifically EQUAL PEOPLE supports people to:
> Live positive independent lives in the community through its Supported Living Service
> Meet friends and have fun at The Equal People Resource Centre
> Take control of their choices about their future through its Person Centred approach.
In short, EQUAL PEOPLE aims to 'turn dreams into action at the pace of the individual'.
Skills / Qualifications
> Bookkeeping skills or finance skills for the treasurer opportunity.
> Commitment should be for at least a year
Training is available as well as other support in the form of Volunteer Buddies and Good Practice Officers.
