Trustee
Meanwhile Gardens Community Association
The Opportunity
Meanwhile Gardens Community Association (MGCA) is a public open space where residents escape the intensity of city life enjoying natural surroundings. MGCA offers many opportunities including training, educational, volunteering, social and recreational activities.
The Gardens attracts a diverse cross section of the community:
'Families with children under six visit our Playhut drop in facility,
'Children and young people enjoy recreational sports at our Skatepark,
'Learning disabled students participate in training opportunities,
'People with long term mental health difficulties attend training courses run by K&C Mind,
'Local residents are supported in their volunteer work,
'School children visit the gardens as part of their environmental and nature studies,
'People of all ages exercise, relax and enjoy events in the Gardens.
We are looking for trustees to join our board. This is a responsible role but with great potential for self development for the right person. If you are interested we would love to hear from you.

The Organisation
Meanwhile Gardens Community Association aims to enhance the lives of residents in North Kensington and North Westminster by providing safe and inclusive open air leisure, play, and training and education opportunities in our four-acre community park.
What was once four acres of derelict wasteland is now an oasis in densely populated North Kensington, where there is a recognised lack of green space. Over the past 32 years, local residents have contributed time, skills and energy in many ways, helping to develop the Gardens into a much loved unique public space. Free facilities for the local community include a drop in centre 'The Playhut' for parents and carers with children up to the age of six, a state of the art skate park and a range of festivals and events.
Skills / Qualifications
This is committee work, although meetings only take place periodically lots of reading will be required for the meetings. Training is offered through the Social Council and the Volunteer Centre, to help you become a trustee and, of course, we expect you to learn how to be a trustee on-the-job.
