Havengrove
The Opportunity
Havengrove is a small local registered charity based in North Kensington and was founded in 1994. Their mission is to help children & families by providing supportive services that enable families, and in particular women, to improve their lives.
Havengrove provide accomodation for homeless pregnant women and new mothers. The dedicated Havengrove staff also support the women by providing information, advice, and educational resources to current residents and women who have moved on from their stay at the Mother and Baby hostel.
The Havengrove board invite caring, thoughtful people with pr/marketing, finance, homeless and housing, health and social care, personnel or business skills to contact them about volunteering as a Trustee. Meetings are held every 3rd Monday of the month in Ladbroke Grove from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Training for the role and expenses are provided.
The Organisation
Havengrove is a small local charity that provides accommodation for nine homeless pregnant women and new mothers. Havengrove staff have over sixty years experience. Havengrove is unique due to its ability to cater to each mother's specific needs and ensures the highest level of support for each individual.
Skills / Qualifications
Havengrove is interested in Trustees to assist with the governance of the charity. At this time the charity is particularly interested in individuals who have experience in Strategic Planning, Personnel and Fundraising. You don't necessarily have to have an in-depth knowledge of the organisation or issues to become an effective trustee.
In addition to meeting one evening a month, Trustees are required to attend an annual review, usually on a Saturday, and attend the organisation's AGM.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable business skills while helping a worthy local charity. Serving as a Trustee can count towards Continued Professional Development for many professions.
