Tracey's story

Tracey's story

Tracey has been volunteering with the Volunteer Centre for over a year.  She has been involved with the administration of the Stepping Stones Project and is now supporting another volunteer as their 'buddie'.

In the time she has been with the Project she has participated in the Introduction to Volunteering course and has been instrumental in providing materials and information for the course. Tracey had felt very nervous about starting work in the office, but has quickly settled into the routine. She has commented that she loves coming here!

'I like working with everybody in the Volunteer Centre and my Buddy John is helping me with my jobs. John is really nice and looks after me when I am in the office'.

As well as developing new skills and incorporating her existing ones, Tracey has discovered a renewed link with her local community, forging new relations with fellow volunteers and making contact again with old acquaintances.  This is having an exceptionally beneficial impact on many levels on her confidence and sense of involvement.
