Volunteer Services Assistant

I came to the Volunteer Centre from the A+ programme in 2007, and I've been volunteering every Monday and Tuesday ever since.

I am really glad I started volunteering, it's been a few years since I last worked as I suffered from post traumatic stress disorder and still suffer from depression, anxiety and short-term memory loss. Volunteering is helping me get my life back on track, providing structure and a good social environment.

My role in the centre is database administration volunteer. I make sure the information on the database is current and correct, contact people and organisations to update their details or delete them when it is necessary. I also get involved in the Volunteer Services Team work, registering new volunteers, inputting new organisations and opportunities and answering calls.

I really enjoy my work as it is varied, no two days are the same. There is a fantastic team at the Volunteer Centre and they are all very friendly and helpful, plus it gives me more experience and skills to add to my CV.

My hobbies and interests; I love all kinds of music and have a vast collection, I also enjoy movies, computers, fantasy art, swimming, walking and cycling as well as going out for the odd drink or meal with friends.
