Hi. I have twenty years experience of servicing large and small, voluntary sector organisations. In my current role as Good Practice Officer for the Volunteer Centre, I provide information, training and practical support for Volunteer Involving Organisations in the Borough on all aspects of Volunteering good practice.
Areas in which I may be of most help include assisting the drafting of good practice policies and delivering free and low-cost training in good practice for staff with responsibility for volunteer recruitment and support. This can be either as part of our Volunteer Management Training programme, delivered from our training room in Canalside House, or more specially designed training delivered for staff on your own premises.
I’m helped in the development of good volunteering practice by work placement individuals from the Government New Deal programme and also by occasional community volunteers who help with admin, computer design and events organisation. So, if you have some experience and wish to build your skills in any of these areas do get in touch and I’ll let you know of any new projects that you might be able to get involved in.
At the Volunteer Centre I have the opportunity to do developmental work with new projects and have the opportunity to work them through to completion. That's what's so great about working here, and generally I like the culture and the people; there's a flexible culture, and everybody cares about their work.
